The Office of International Education Services provides a wide range of information to International students and scholars at the University of Maryland.

International Student Orientation
A comprehensive program run by International Education Services (IES) is mandatory for all new incoming graduate and undergraduate students holding F-1 or J-1 visas. There are two orientation periods over the Summer and one in the Spring.

International Spouses Support Group
Support group consisting of spouses of UM international students and advisors from the Office of International Education Services.

English Editing for Graduate Students
A free service out of Research and Graduate Studies that helps students review required papers, theses, dissertations, etc. for English content.

Student Repatriation Insurance (Death & Injury Insurance)
The University of Maryland offers a group insurance policy which provides emergency medical evacuation and repatriation insurance as required for J-1 visa holders. It is recommended that all other visa holders carry this insurance. Coverage is provides emergency medical evacuation up to $25,000 or Repatriation of mortal remains up to $10,000.
