Students are strongly encouraged to have a health insurance plan while studying at UMD for needs that cannot be met by the UHC, such as serious illness or injury. Graduate assistants are provided health insurance through the university employee health program; details of available plans and benefits are available at the University's Human Resources Benefits website.
