UMD Health Center
The University Health Center (UHC) is located on Campus Drive across from the Stamp Student Union. The UHC is staffed by physicians, physician assistants, and registered nurse practitioners. Services to all registered students, include: urgent care, a walk-in clinic, x-ray and laboratory services, a pharmacy, an allergy clinic, HIV testing,
international travel clinic, physical therapy, women’s health services, orthopedics, immunizations, health education, massage therapy, acupuncture, substance abuse programs and counseling, and mental health services. Most visits require an appointment and a $10 co-payment. Additional fees may be charged to see a specialist or for certain tests or procedures. Health Insurance for Graduate Students
Students are strongly encouraged to have a health insurance plan while studying at UMD for needs that cannot be met by the UHC, such as serious illness or injury. Graduate assistants are provided health insurance through the university employee health program; details of available plans and benefits are available at the University's Human Resources Benefits website. Graduate students without an assistantship may purchase a plan through the University-sponsored health insurance program with UnitedHealthcare.

International Student Repatriation Services
The University of Maryland offers a group insurance policy which provides emergency medical evacuation and repatriation insurance as required for J-1 visa holders. It is recommended that all other visa holders carry this insurance. Coverage is provides emergency medical evacuation up to $25,000 or Repatriation of mortal remains up to $10,000.
