Be sure when you receive your card it says "Graduate Student" and not just "Student" so you can receive discounts at participating restaurants and stores. The first card is free, but it's $20 to replace a lost, stolen or purposefully defaced cards (e.g., hole punch).

Before obtaining an ID card, you must be registered for classes and have proof of identity.

Terrapin Express is a pre-paid debit account that uses your student ID. You can use the money at various food vendors and vending machines on campus. You can activate your account at: 1109 South Campus Dining Hall, Mezzanine Level or McKeldin Library. $20 minimum deposit by credit card, cash or check. You can also check the amount remaining on your Terrapin Express card on-line. Check out the local restaurant meal plan, known as the University Meal Deal.
