This award recognizes an Undergraduate OR Graduate student who, through her/his leadership, has made outstanding contributions to the quality of life for University of Maryland off-campus students during the 2007-8 academic year. The contributions made by off-campus students on this campus are numerous, but this award specifically seeks to honor a student whose activities and involvement have directly or indirectly provided benefits to other off-campus students.
Realizing that many off-campus students are juggling jobs, families, school, and other commitments, it is important to note that the contributions on which this award is based may take many forms. Examples include, but are not limited to, advocacy for off-campus issues, programming, assistance with a specific off-campus student subpopulation (e.g. transfers, graduate students, international students, etc), encouragement of off-campus involvement on campus, the development of initiatives which serve off-campus students, and/or addressing issues of security and transportation for off-campus students.
