Film/Discussion— Racism 101
Film Summary: This film chronicles racial incidents and responses to them at the University of Michigan in the mid 1980’s. These incidents at Michigan were pivotal to the creation of many diversity initiatives and efforts across the country.

Dialogue— Sexuality in the Black Community
Discussion of views in the Black community, with a particular emphasis on intersections between racial, lesbian or gay communities.

Wednesday, March 12
Film/Discussion— Conquering America
Author, Bharati Mukherjee, discusses her works and what it is to be an Asian immigrant in the United States.
Film will begin at 12:30.

Dialogue— Talking about Issues of Race in the Workplace
Just as the student population at Maryland has become more diverse so has it faculty and staff. How do we discuss issue of race in the workplace? Come participate in a workshop/ discussion that seeks to improve/increase workplace discussion regarding issues of race and diversity.

Discussion— The President’s Promise and Issues of Diversity
The President’s Promise is an initiative that guarantees every entering freshmen at the university the opportunity for a special experience. Come learn of how the Study Abroad Office and the President’s Promise initiative have impacted students’ learning and experience with issues of diversity.

Discussion— Exploring Queer Asian Pacific American (In)Visibility
Where are all the queer Asian Pacific Americans? Ever wondered about the lack of visibility around sexual minority APAs? Join us for a lively discussion exploring the intersections of APA and queer identities. Bring your lunch!
