Amanda is our Interim Coordinator for Student Involvement & Advocacy and Latino/a Community Liaison. A former intern for our office last summer, she now has been helping us on a temporary basis prior to starting a Master's program in College Student Personnel in the College of Education, here at the University of Maryland. She starts her studies this coming Fall 2008 and will move to her graduate assistant position as a Student Affairs Residential Fellow with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, where she will work with chapters in the United Greek Council (UGC) as one of her duties. Amanda hails from Hope College in Holland, Michigan where she completed her Bachelor’s degree as an Intercultural Studies major. Recently, Amanda served as a Diversity Outreach Coordinator in the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Here since March, Amanda provides administrative support to MICA staff efforts related to programs and services that serve the Latino Student Involvement area as well as our office generally. You probably have seen her behind the scenes in organizing Nuestra Comunidad (a periodic newsletter for the UM Latino community), updating print and web resources, consulting with Latino student organizations to help communicate information and resources, and supporting other programs. She also assists with office/departmental assessment and reporting activities as well as supporting our end-of-the-year events.
