HOURS AND ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility:

Currently registered University of Maryland College Park graduate students who pay student activity fees are eligible for our services. Graduate students at Shady Grove or other campuses not requiring payment of student activity fees are not eligible. We cannot provide services to alumni, staff, faculty, or other members of the campus community.

Pursuant to state rules governing the practice of law, GLAO cannot get involved in cases involving conflicts or potential conflicts between graduate students. Students who have a conflict with another student should contact the Graduate Student Ombudsman (x53132) as a first step.

Office Hours and How to Access our Services

We are open on a part-time, walk-in basis only. No appointments are necessary.   Please call (301) 405-5807 or check our office door for available office hours each week. We generally are open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for part of the business day - however, days and hours are subject to change weekly. Please come at least a half hour before we close so we have time to talk with you.

PLEASE NOTE: The Stamp Student Union will be closed due to construction from December 25, 2008 through January 4, 2009. As a result, our office will be closed to walk-in service. Established clients may email or call during this time, but staff will have limited availability. We will not be available December 25 or January 1.

We cannot provide legal advice by telephone or email. However, you may call our Office before coming in if you have questions about your eligibility or whether we handle your particular type of problem or case (no emails please).

We do not provide emergency legal services. If you need immediate assistance when our office is closed, please visit our emergency contact information page.
