Make a Difference!
The Terrapin Leadership Institute (TLI) is an intimate workshop series that offers leadership development skills to students through interactive, skill-building exercises relating to a variety of leadership topics. The goal of TLI is to empower students to reach their full leadership potential. It's also a great way to meet new people and build your college resume!
Who Can Benefit from TLI?
EVERYONE! Leadership development helps you gain a greater understanding of your own talents, values and interests, and empowers you to facilitate positive change as a member or leader of a group. TLI recognizes leadership is a skill that can be developed by all people. Additionally, all students that attend five of the six sessions for their track will receive a certificate of completion for their records.
The Leadership Challenge Track - October 9th - November 13th, each Thursday from 6:30PM-8:00PM
The Leadership Challenge track is a 6-week leadership development program focusing on 5 exemplary leadership practices (Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, Encourage the Heart). The Leadership Challenge track is designed to build basic leadership skills and is appropriate for students at any phase of their leadership development. This model was designed by researcher Kouzes and Posner and presented in their popular book: The Leadership Challenge. Tracks run for six weeks with each weekly session lasting about 90 minutes. Sessions are presented by the Peer Leadership Council along with guest speakers from around campus. All sessions are interactive and designed to make the process of learning fun and meaningful. The cost is completely free, participants receive a copy of The Student Leadership Challenge (2008) and are served a light dinner each week.
Don't miss out on this opportunity as this program will be limited to a dedicated group of 15 students that are able to attend each of the six sessions.. The 6-week session starts Thursday October, 9th from 6:30-8:00 in the Campus Programs conference room (0110 Stamp Student Union). The change starts now, so hurry and become a part of it!
